While most services offer at least a few basic templates to get started, most of them still require a substantial amount of customization for what you need. With Jotform, you can almost always find a form that's close to what you need right away. Use those templates, or start with a blank slate, to build single-page or multiple-page forms, including multiple-page forms with each question appearing on its own, separate page.
Then add a logo, build or edit your form using nearly two dozen different types of form fields, set up payment integrations, and take advantage of a variety of widgets that let you do things like collect signatures, validate emails, add a progress bar, and much more. If you need to work in a spreadsheet or create visuals, Jotform makes it easy to do that, too.
And if you don't want to have to look through emails for every response, you can also set up an RSS feed to review your responses in your favorite RSS reader app. When someone responds to your form, you'll receive an email with the responses—or you can use Jotform's Zapier integrations to send the responses to your email marketing tool, spreadsheet app, or anywhere else.
Formstack Web, iOS, Android. If your company is in a highly regulated industry, Formstack may be the best forms app for you. Additionally, Formstack will warn you if your form doesn't meet Section Compliance standards —e. Once data starts flowing in, Formstack also offers some powerful tools that can analyze not only the data you receive, but also data from the people who don't finish your form.
If there's a question that's confusing your potential customers and causing them to quit the form instead of finishing it, this can help you find out why that's happening.
You can also extend Formstack's features with Formstack's Zapier integrations , allowing you to send the information you collect in Formstack to other apps. Here are a couple of examples, but you can use whatever apps you rely on most. Typeform Web. Typeform tosses away the old conventions of a long page of questions and response fields. Typeform's forms are uniquely designed, showing one question at a time and blurring out the others, making the overall form submission process feel very conversational and intimate.
Respondents can tap a designated key on their keyboards to select multiple-choice options, type to sort through dropdown menu options, and press Enter to jump to the next field.
This rental form application template is a good example: you can fill out the entire form using only a keyboard. This conversational approach means that your forms can be easily adapted to chatbot-style forms, which Typeform also offers.
While some question types like rankings don't yet work with the chatbot style, you can convert most forms to a chatbot with one click. This can then be embedded in your site as a whole module or a popover, or you can send users to the form like you usually do with a link. It might not work for every form, but you'll find new ways to use forms with Typeform since forms can include cover pages, paragraphs of text, and multimedia, along with traditional form fields. It's also one of the best options if you want your form to look great on mobile: Typeform's oversized buttons are far easier to use on a touchscreen than standard radio buttons.
Once users have submitted their forms, you can automatically send their answers to any other app you use—be it a CRM, email marketing tool, or anything else—using Typeform's Zapier integrations. Want more inspiration for how to automate Typeform? Take a look at these 6 ways to simplify critical business processes with Typeform. Paperform Web. Forms are a good way to collect data, but there's a thin line between accepting information and taking an order.
If you're selling a physical or digital product through your forms, Paperform might be for you. It's a form maker that's designed to create forms that look like landing pages or blog posts rather than your standard list of form fields. You can add photos, headings, video, and long-form text to use your form to tell the story behind your offerings. It's a nice substitute for a landing page builder , letting you collect visitor data on custom landing pages for things like PPC ads and targeted marketing campaigns.
This makes it especially suited for things like product catalogs complete with ordering and payment fields, or restaurant reservation pages alongside location maps, and more. A quick scroll through some of Paperform's templates shows you the many things you can do with forms like this.
On the back end, Paperform can also help you manage your inventory. If you've got a limited supply of art prints or T-shirts or whatnot, you can enter how many you have in Paperform, and each time one is ordered, the system will note how many you have left. Building a form in Paperform is as simple as creating a document in your favorite word processor. Start typing to build your form, tap Enter to move to a new line, and use sub-menus to do things like add images, align content, transform text into headers, and add questions and response fields.
When you're finished, choose what happens after someone submits the form: have Paperform send an email, display a success page, or redirect respondents to a page on your website.
Or you can use Paperform's Zapier integrations to automate the process even further and get your info to more apps, like your team chat app or email marketing tool. Formsite Web. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Many Thanks. Hi Marcus, Thank you for this detailed report. One of the options I am considering is Drip, it seems to be popular. Did you consider it? Any thoughts on Drip vs ActiveCampaign? All the best, Jim. This year Drip came out in 31st place in our ranking of the top email marketing services.
One factor pulling down their ranking was a high number of Drip users moving away from their platform reporting four issues in particular as the reason: Integrations, low-quality support, bugs, and difficult-to-use UX.
A very thorough and well-written blog on Email Marketing software tools. These are some very decent tools which will prove helpful for novices like us.
Thanks for the blog Marcus. Hi Marcus, Thanks for the review. We are looking for a mail marketing tool for b2b software services company. Would appreciate your feedback. A few new tools have made the cut, and a couple of old ones removed. All of the data has been updated as of October , so that should be useful.
I have reviewed both of the services for myself and found Getresponse much better than Mailchimp and even from others too Cost effective. Thanks so much for these summary articles. Your info is presented in clear and informative manner.. Is that okay? It seems to have gone back to the old pricing and repositioned slightly to eCommerce email marketing. Thanks for the article Marcus. We have about subscribers and currently use Mail Chimp. Also their customer support is non-existent.
Seems impossible to contact a human. Appreciate your comments ;. Excellent article. Learnt my lesson there. Thanks Benjamin! Wow such a detailed review! I have tried MailChimp before and I found it too expensive. Just got off the phone with Constant Contact. I have a database of emails that I have marketed to for some time now from a pop 3 email without using a service.
If you want cheap, easy and something you can grow with, I recommend MailChimp. You can even start out free with them. Great review Marcus! Have you looked into contactpigeon. They are a new e-mail marketing platform that offers data driven campaigns with thorough segmentation and automation features.
Hi I am new to direct email marketing. Sendy looks like a good pick based on this post. Thanks, Marcus for this article. Just a question, is it possible to export back only the delivered emails back to our database or via a.
Thanks for the article, it was also interesting and inspiring to see your other ventures in diverse fields. Would like to connect in the near future. Meanwhile, even I had done a similar comparison as I myself handle email marketing for my organization. Do check it out as well as for the readers of the blog since it covers 2 additional players.
I took a look at your comparison — good work. More than happy to connect anytime if you want to drop me an email. Are you affiliated with them by any chance? I really enjoyed this article but could anyone tell me a little bit more about MPZMail?
We have a customer database of over , users and need to be able to send them SMS messages as well as emails at roughly the same time as appointment reminders. Check out Pure — from their website it seems like they have both SMS services and integration with Salesforce. The other option would be something like Infusionsoft. This is so helpful! One question — do you know how easy it would be to connect a tool like Aweber or GetResponse to a customer database? Do you know whether your current email service allows you to export subscribers?
If so you should be fine. I run an information product business in the fitness industry with a large number of customers buying our ebooks and online courses every day. Do you have any strong opinions on which one would be better for our kind of business? GetResponse would be a great pick, although their automation is quite limited at the moment. It sounds like Infusionsoft is probably the direction we need to head in.
Great timing, Marcus. I signed up for free trials with Mailchimp, GetResponse and Aweber about a week ago and was just doing some research to confirm my thoughts.
I agree with you that overall GetResponse are the best of the bunch. I find that the best newsletters are those that look like it came from a friend. Do you know of any services that do this? Instead of creating a HTML campaign, you should be able to select plain-text from a drop down menu and go from there. Have you come across them before, and if so would you advise using them over GetResponse?
Another question I had was to do with email delivery rates. Perhaps an idea for a future post? From a quick browse of their websites they all look fine, but nothing jumps out at me in terms of a unique proposition. If a company like Infusionsoft upgraded their servers, or changed the IP address that they send mail from, the stats would immediately become outdated.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution. Each model has pros and cons. Low-mid volume, occasional senders and not so technically literate users will probably do better with the serviced model or a desktop based solution. Medium to heavy users are more likely to go for a self-hosted solution and usually the hybrid approach. I have very few mail customers but would like to get started on this. If I use mail chimp to get my first email addresses over the next year or so obviously for free!
I am a musician so it is more for my fans than for selling. Have you looked into Radio Airplay or FanDistro? Thank you, You just gave me a very cool tip! Great article, I will look up The MusiciansGuide too! I dug Aweber and getresponse when I used them.
Smart post Marcus! But overall helpful read here and a must for most marketers.
