How to make vista look like xp pro

So you'd like to make Vista, the professional looking design look like it was designed by fisherprice? That's too easy. I want the Windows 3. Install the Windowblinds WinOS2 theme forget the author's name and set your color depth to bit. What about XP icons then? I don't like all this glossy-ness, and would love XP icons :. He probably wants to trick a Vista-hating friend into using his machine, thinking it's XP, and then when his friend tells him that it runs nice, he'll say, hah, you're using Vista, jackass.

You're right, nX, there are quite a few Luna skins for Vista, but they're all more of a sort of Vista-Luna hybrid. In any case, I haven't gotten around to hacking or attempting to hack my Vista icons yet, but I imagine it wouldn't be too hard, you would just hypothetically need a buddy outside the medium of the forum to email you a ripped collection of his XP icons. Or rip them yourself from a copy of XP that you rightfully own. Yea I was wondering the same thing, I wouldn't forsee any issues where the icons are located the same place as they were within XP, but different locations for other icons along with the variant in maximum sizes may cause problems.

The guy asked a serious question and nowhere did he ask any of your opinions about it. If you can't help him then don't post. Who cares why he likes the look of XP better? I sure as hell don't care if any of you like Vista over XP, and I'm sure he doesn't care either. Has it ever crossed your mind that perhaps glossy-looks was not the only thing alluring to many Vista users? Perhaps I installed Vista for its functional capabilities and not its aesthetics? Please, point that out. I had found a real nice Luna WindowBlinds theme that worked pretty well in Vista.

As far as the icons go, I would also look for some icon packs for IconPackager. Here is a good Luna Silver. I know it's your choice and each to their own,and I respect that, but I still have to ask why bother? Reboot your computer at the prompt. Right-click on the desktop and choose personalize. Select Windows Color and Apperance. Choose Luna -Blue and select apply. You now should have a similar desktop to the one in the second picture.

The first picture shows the desktop before applying the theme. Using a program called LogonStudio Vista, you can use any image as the background for the login screen. Download and Install LogonStudio Vista. Download and save the attached file called Windows XP.

Open LogonStudio. Choose load and find the windows xp. Press the apply button. It will lock the computer to show you the new backround. The Windows XP cursor and the hour glass is easily brought back. Right-click the desktop and choose Personalize. Click Mouse Pointers. Choose "None" from the menu. Click Apply. In Windows Xp's Windows Explorer, the folder name and icon was displayed in the title bar.

Bring them back by using a program called Aero Bar. Download the attached file AeroBarIco. Save in Startup folder in Start Menu. Double Click it to run. Placing it in the Startup folder starts it when windows starts, not needing to run it everytime.

Use this theme to restore the previous Xp theme in Firefox. User Account Control may be one of the most annoying features of Vista. Finally we're done!. Now that you've logged on you should probably see something called "Vista Transformation Pack - Welcome Center". Click on configure user account. Check the boxes that are checked in the picture and press continue.

A window will pop up saying the computer needs to be restarted, select ok and wait. Now if you've followed along correctly you're probably noticing some changes such as the boot logo and the welcome screen and the sounds. But as soon as you log on your thinking where the heck is the sweet vista taskbar!?!

Don't panic its easy to find. Your computer looks almost exactly like a vista. But what about the wallpaper you ask? Didn't think i forgot about it did ya? This is a cakewalk compared to the last install we did.

All you have to do is unzip the folder into the programs file of your C drive, and then copy fast aero the little shield to startup in the start menu. Hopefully this turned out good for you : And this is my first instructable so if i did a poor job or left somthing out or mispelled somthing please tell me.

I believe that this would be a better link than fastaero. I recommend TrueTransparency instead of Fast Aero. Besides, Vista Transformation Pack 8. You can find Fast Aero here. Good point, but also when XP came out ? Plus there is always Linux, with with a large choice of GUI's. Try installing Win95 on a modern machine! No no LasVegas, you have it allllll wrong, try installing Windows 3. I had it on a Pentium 1 mhz once, that was so fast that it corrupted itself and every time I wanted to turn it off, I had to reinstall it every time, which being a fast computer compared to what Win 3. If win 3. The fact that your Win 3. It was more likely due to the use of a similar, but incompatible file system Fat32 instead of Fat When you install it, it wipes and formats the drive, to fat 16, so if it were due to an incompatibility which I'm pretty sure win 3.

Might be wrong here IT wouldn't have booted to the desktop in the first place, which I must say win 3.
