So I decided to listen through it again, and try to be more objective. The album starts off like a parade walking down the street. You can hear them faintly in the distance, the higher pitches cutting through the air. Before you know it they are all around you, horns blaring, drums pounding, guitars driving everything forward. You follow them down the street for as long as you can, but they eventually pass, and everything slowly dies down.
The sound lingers in the air and everything seems too quiet and hollow without them. You find yourself straining to pick out details in the distance, not wanting it to end. The next track brings the mood down. And all the while, the thudding drive of the drums and the short stabs of guitar are hammering the point in almost hypnotically. Next comes a song about lost love, passionate arguments, and foolish mistakes. There is no one after you, and there is no one after you.
The album sets into its groove after this point. They have established a range, and now get to work delivering as much sonic pleasure as possible. The singers voice ranges from haunting to reassuring, often within a single line, and the band has a beautiful talent for short, spine tingling guitar solos that reach out, flick you in the face and then dissipate, leaving you in shock.
The drumming pulls effortlessly from a mellow supportive thrum to a confident, driving, head-bopping beat that builds tension brilliantly. Importantly, with all this depth, the core instruments — vocals, guitar, and drums — are never allowed to loose their significance. The tingling continues in small waves along with the screeching guitar, grand piano chords, uncaged drums, and screaming vocals, until the song fades.
This is why I love music. The way it can toy with your emotions, wrench you out of yourself, stop your heart, lift your spirit. It is heart-warming to know that a group of people half way around the world are pouring themselves out, channeling their fears, joys, passions, and beliefs through instruments that act as extensions of themselves. They are devoting their lives to delivering music to the world, and the fact that so many people from divergent backgrounds can relate to them, feel the same emotions, react the same way, is life-affirming.
It makes you feel connected, like you are never alone. These guys love to rock out, and when they do they go large. They can really push themselves, and this speaks volumes for their musical talent. In the end, I dropped a few five star ratings down to four, but amazingly, every song on this album plays like a highlight. I hate it when bands work on two or three great songs and then rush the rest of the album, knowing that people will buy it anyway for the good bits. Lo que mas le gustaba de hacer pinturas religiosas. Pero ocasionalmene era rechazado. Sin embargo, en los siglos posteriores a su muerte fue desplazado por otros pintores como Rembrandt. Dolls Remix - Crystal Castles CC mixdown After the second chorus it goes into a huge beautiful piano siege. Thumping drums, and images of war. Not as heavy as I just made it sound :p. The drumbeat makes the chorus, and the higer vocals make it really nice. More upbeat in second verse, and a fantastic ooh ooh part after the second chorus.
A beautiful chimed chorus near the end too. Just drums, vocals, and a bassy sound for verses. I love this chorus, it is one of my favourites. It makes you wanna grab your heart. About how lame everything we do really is.
A fantastic change of style, and pulled off way too well. Vocals are strange sounding. Spooky sounding, and then it picks up and becomes a really happy sounding track. Piano based, and majestic as heck. The extra syllable in the first line sounds really nice. Drums fully come in, and the song grows. I love this song sooo much. Striving guitar to begin and throughout the verse. Its building, letting off, building.
A chorus drops the tension, and drums come in. The second verse keeps building. There it goes, what an amazing chorus. The heaviest chorus on the album, and catchy as anything. An electronic introduction, which goes for a while, and a laidback drumbeat. Building pianoin the verse, and very very great singing. Chorus sounds Thom Yorke-ish. Very very good. This track is very epic, and changes and morphs its way through.
Takes a while to get started, and is very beautiful. A great way to end a fantastic album. This album is in at least my top 3 of last year, and one of my favourite records for ages. I love these guys, and I hope that more people realize their brilliance. Official site: [url]www.
